Why Worship God?
We are admonished throughout the scriptures to worship Him: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” (Matt. 4:10)
Why Stand To Sing?
“Some of the Levites…and Kirshites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a loud voice.” (II Chron. 20:19)
“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:9-10)
Why Clap Our Hands?
“Clap your hands all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.” (Ps. 47:1)
Why Lift Our Hands?
“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.” (Ps. 134:2)
Why Are Musical Instruments A Part Of The Worship Service?
“Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with the tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals.” (Ps. 150:3-5)
Why Sing Choruses As Well As Hymns?
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.” (Eph. 5:18-19)
Why Express Audible Praise To God?
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Ps. 150:6)
“After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: ‘Hallelujah! Salvation and Glory and Power belong to our God.’” (Rev. 19:1)
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder; shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.’” (Rev. 19:6)
Why Does The Whole Church At Once Pray For Specific Needs?
“When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. ‘Sovereign Lord,’ they said, ‘you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.’” (Acts 4:24)
Why Does The Church Receive Tithes And Offerings?
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. ‘Test Me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing, that you will not have room enough for it.’” Mal. 3:10
“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collection will have to be made.” (1Cor. 16:2)
Why Have Speaking In Tongues And Interpretation Of Tongues In The Church?
“Therefore, my brother, be eager to prophecy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.” (1Cor. 14:39)
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good… to another speaking in tongues, to still another, the interpretation of tongues.” (1Cor. 12:7/10)
“I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophecy. He who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.” (1Cor. 14:5)
“If anyone speaks in a tongue, two – or at the most three – should speak, one at a time, and some must interpret.” (1Cor. 14:27)
Why Prophesy?
“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.” (1Cor. 14:1)
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good…to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy. (1Cor. 12:7/10)
