Becoming A Christian

The following are the Biblical steps to becoming a Christian:

1) Recognize that you need help in your life. - Confession

(Mark 1:14-15 ) After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee preaching the Message of God: “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.”

2) Be willing to make a change in your life. – Repentance

(Mark 1:15 & Acts 2:38) Peter said, “Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away-whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.”

3) Believe and accept that Jesus Christ is God and that he is the answer for your sins. - Faith

(Matthew 16:15-16 and John 14:6) He pressed them, “And how about you? Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You’ve even seen him!”

4) Pray and ask His forgiveness for your wrongs and invite Him to be your Lord, Savior and Friend. - Commitment

(Romans 10:9-13) The word that saves is right here, as near as the tongue in your mouth, as close as the heart in your chest.  It’s the word of faith that welcomes God to go to work and set things right for us. This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God – Jesus is my Master” – embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God  setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!”  Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this-heart and soul-will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help.”

If you are not sure how to pray, you may say this prayer and make it your own!

“Dear God, will you please forgive me and love me through Jesus, your Son. I believe and accept Jesus as my personal Savior.  I invite you Jesus, to be my life’s Leader and Friend.  I accept your forgiveness for all my wrongs and I accept your promise that you will now give me a new life and a new future.  I promise to live for you for the rest of my life.  Thank you for hearing my prayer and for accepting me into your family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Now, we invite you to let someone know that you have made a decision for Christ. There two reasons why you should tell someone about what you have just done:

1) The Bible says you need to do this.

(Romans 10:9-10) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you  believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

2) That person can now pray for you and support you in your new life.

Next, we would like to encourage you to attend our church where we teach about Christ and God’s Word, the Bible.
