As a part of MGA regular Sunday services we dedicate the first Sunday of every month towards supporting and highlighting the work of the missionaries we support. For more information about our missionaries, please contact our office.
A&D World Missions
(Thailand) - Al & Terry Purvis – Based in Sriracha, Thailand, three decades of apostolic training have advanced church planting ministry, now into nine Asian nations. Our Thailand, Philippines and Pakistan leaders are rapidly expanding their Kingdom borders. The oppressive spirit in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Burma is eroding under an onslaught of creative ministries led by our bold and sacrificial teams. As we work together as united nations for a common purpose, we see new countries opening up to this powerful Victory Vision. The next step to your Great Commission destiny begins here.
Canada North Ministries
(Meadow Lake, SK) – Mark & Merle Ramshaw, Jonathan & Sherrie Bilec, (Pelican Narrows, SK) – Selvon Raphael. There are several families in La Loche and in Buffalo Narrows who are committed to see a Gospel Mission established in their communities. Some of these people have been believers for a few years. Others have just come to Christ as a result of the revival of
2005, and/or through encounters since that time. We are so blessed to see and to hear their passion for Christ and for their communities. There are many other communities in northern Saskatchewan and Alberta which have shown a receptiveness to the gospel. However, we are beginning with these two communities at this time.
The philosophy of Canada North is very simple. We recognize a desire and a need for biblical faith and fellowship in many of our northern communities. This mission will encourage the work of God wherever a positive reception to the “move of God” is taking place. We will do this in one or more of these three ways:
- To encourage local missions/churches wherever God’s presence is being honored in a real and recognizable manner.
- Where there is no gospel church or fellowship, this mission will assist in preparing an incorporated biblical fellowship in the community. This incorporated fellowship will include the process of preparing spiritual leadership as well as founding a legal entity. This will include the discipling and training of elders (a board of directors), establishing a charter, and obtaining a tax number.
- To train and mentor local leadership (Pastor or Pastors) who are equipped to serve their communities.
Our approach is as follows:
- To support selected Gospel evangelists/church planters who serve communities north of the 54th parallel.
- To form a strategy of mission for each receptive community.
- To remain involved in the local mission until such a time as reliable leadership and biblical function is achieved.
- And finally, the new mission/church will be released as an autonomous local fellowship of the community. It is assumed that the new church or mission will have an association with the FCA. Should the new mission/church for some apparent reason, choose to associate with another fellowship, the kingdom attitude of this mission indicates that we will assist them with that process.
Evangelist – Mark Ramshaw & Family - Mark and Merle Ramshaw married in 1987 and have four home schooled children who are serving the Lord with them. Mark has been in the ministry since 1985 and has felt a special calling to minister to First Nations people in Canada’s North. Mark and Merle have been involved in gospel tent meetings, evangelistic crusades, church planting, Bible seminars and leadership development. They have seen amazing miracles in the ministry and have witnessed the Lord Jesus healing the blind, deaf, crippled and diseased. Presently Mark and Merle are working on church plants in La Loche and Buffalo Narrows, SK, and covering the near North of Saskatchewan with the gospel. Mark also makes a yearly trip to India to do leadership training and miracle crusades there. Mark and Merle are missionaries sent out of MGA.
Pastor Jon Bilec & Family - Jon and Sherrie Bilec together with their four children are currently missionaries with Canada North. They are presently working in La Loche as well as assisting in Buffalo Narrows and Turnor Lake. In 2006 God called Jon and Sherrie to leave their jobs and go into the ministry full time. Not knowing what God was going to do, they teamed up with Mark Ramshaw and then joined McMurray Gospel Assembly as members. Now, as missionaries with Canada North, Jon and Sherrie see their roles as helping strengthen the body of new believers and discipling leaders in the local communities to reach out to their neighbors and families with the gospel of Christ.
Cuban Pastors
We support 13 pastors in various cities in the nation of Cuba. Without this support, these pastors would need to spend all of their time to support their families. There is a great move of the Spirit in this land and a great desire among many spiritually-hungry Cubans for God’s kingdom to increase.
Home of New Life
(Ramallah, Israel) – Munir & Sharon Kakish. The unending wars in the Holy Land have ravished the economy and social order. Those who suffer the most are those who can do the least about it — the children. Economic instability, family strife and other social problems have increased dramatically.
When I was 10 years old, my father passed away. My family experienced great financial hardships. I was then sent from Jordan to an orphanage in the town of Ramallah (just 10 miles north of Jerusalem) for the next 8 years.
Today, I am directing an orphanage in the very same town! I am currently working with impoverished Palestinian children that have many different and difficult backgrounds. We provide them with food, shelter, clothing, education, and most importantly love and care.
I look forward to hearing from you. Your involvement will impact a child in the Holy Land for life

Although Lynn has fulfilled many roles, her passion is to provide quality health care for the rural poor who would otherwise have no other medical help. Besides her hands-on curative efforts, she is committed to the training and equipping of Mozambicans who can provide compassionate and competent care for their own people.

Teen Challenge
(Denare Beach, SK) – Allan & Kandie Lagore, Dan & Lana Morgan. Teen Challenge is a 12-month, faith-based, residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is part of a network of over 15 Teen Challenge Centres across Canada and more than 1,000 worldwide. The program has a strong faith-based approach and offers spiritual, academic and vocational training that helps equip individuals to return to society as responsible citizens.
A large number of our graduates have experienced complete recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. They have told us that the key to their success was developing a personal relationship with God and putting into practice all that they had learned while in our program.
We are here to help you or your loved one do the same. We believe that God has a great purpose for every life and we are thankful for every opportunity to help you and others discover that purpose – and live it to the very fullest.
Voice of Love: Global Farsi Christian Broadcast – Dr. Seyed Masood
Wycliffe Bible Translators (Calgary) -Robert & Verna Stutzman
Today about 200 million people do not have the Bible in their own language. Wycliffe’s vision is to see the Bible accessible to all people in the language they understand best. To make this vision a reality, Wycliffe also focuses on community development, literacy development and church partnerships.
More than 2,600 minority language groups still wait for the power of God working through their own language. Wycliffe can’t tackle this huge task alone. We invite like-minded people to participate with us through prayer, service and funding.
Robert and Verna were married May 12, 1973 and have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators, Wycliffe Canada, Wycliffe USA and SIL International since 1983. They served SIL in Papua New Guinea from January 1984 to June 1995 as accountant, teacher, computer operator, and as Bible Translators. Since returning to the US in 1995, they have been involved in developing exegetical and computerized tools for Bible translators at the International Linguistics Center in Dallas, Texas.
Wycliffe personnel are not salaried, so the Stutzmans look to their Heavenly Father to provide sponsors in the church community to meet their living and ministry expenses.
