Bulletin – August 1st
I remember the first time the words jumped off the page at me, just after the most intense betrayal I had yet to experience. In one of those desperate, speak-to-me-God-as-I-flip-open-and-point Bible reading moments, I glanced through blurred salt water at something so appropriate, it was almost unwelcome: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (Jn 13:35 NKJV).” That verse has never let go of me since. It is what I come back to every time I note divisive and unloving words televised in the name of Christ; every time I hear a story of someone who won’t come to church for fear of judgment; every time I desire to venture into “un-hindered ministry” without the complication of other people, or put up a wall in a relationship to avoid being hurt – again. Just when I want to say “good riddance,” I’m challenged to love.
The biggest evangelistic tool we have at our disposal isn’t our talents or abilities, our knowledge or testimony, or even how we embrace the poor or “unsaved.” No, our Christ-likness is most potent when we are able to navigate relationships with other often frustrating Christians- in other words- BE the Church. In a world so acquainted with divorce, the act of NOT breaking relationship is a stand alone testimony that speaks louder than any sermon or tract of our God’s grace and power. And besides, if the Savior of the World is letting me represent Him, I should probably take all the help I can get.

SLEEPING BAGS
Invest with us into our community of those who don’t have a place to live. We want to supply sleeping bags for all of our homeless people to be handed out in Sept. at our Savior Street Talk BBQ. $25 will buy a sleeping bag for someone who needs warmth in the Fall and Winter months. Would you get involved with us? Purchase one or more a the Info Desk. We will stack them at the front of the church auditorium as they are purchased, so we can watch together as we see this need being met. God bless you as you give.
